SPECIAL THANKS TO SARA FORNESS FOR COORDINATING AND MARGO BRADY FOR HOSTING THE KATE FLEMMING KUHN CLINIC APRIL 9 & 10TH.  A big thanks also to all who volunteered and participated to make this event happen!  Karla Stanley had some great words to say about the clinic:

"
Thank you AEER for hosting the Kate Flemming Kuhn dressage clinic this past weekend.  Mimi took 3 lessons on 2 different horses, an FEI Warmblood gelding & a 3rd level Pinto Half Arabian mare belonging to Jodi Cuskelly.  The instruction was very good & right on target.   Mimi would definitely ride with Kate again.  Margo's arena worked out well.  It is a nice facility.  My thanks to her for making it available.  Please continue to offer quality educational events."

Welcome Fitzgerald (Fitz)!

Above is a photo of  Rick Carik, AEER Board Director's new horse Fitzgerald (Fitz).  Rick writes "Fitz is a 10 year old Warmblood.  He is dark bay and 17 to 17.1 hands.  Nikki Dauk Holmes discovered him on a trip to the western US and Canada.  He comes from Aldergrove, British Columbia, which is about 40 miles from Vancover.  He has adapted to our barn as if he has lived there forever.  I am very happy with his disposition which is terrific for my confidence and Nikki is pleased with his abilities".  Note from co-webmaster Julie Cardwell,  Rick we are happy for you and Fitz and looking forward to seeing you both at clinics and shows this season!

AEER Board of Directors and Members Welcome New 2011 Show Coordinator!       Lori Krause.

Hi AEER Members:  My name is Lori Krause.  I'm excited to be working with you this Show Season.  I live near Hawley, MN where I raised my two children, Jamin and Hannah, with my husband, Greg. We manage to stay involved at our church, Eksjo Lutheran by Lake Park. I am the library media specialist at DGF Schools in Dilworth, teaching grades K-8. I have a lot of hobbies and interests, making me a true "jack of all trades and master of none." I am a real geek, too. If you need any random information or weird gadget, I'm likely your gal. I enjoy spending time with my sweet, gorgeous and talented horse, Smarty, who lives at Shelley Johnsen's. It is so wonderful to be able to ride my great horse with my great friend in a great environment. Having Smarty has been life-changing for me and I treasure every moment with him, even the ones where I'm sure he's doing a full-body eye-roll at my best efforts... I look forward to learning all about delivering a great show for your club and also look forward to getting to know you. May I share a favorite horse quote? "The wind of heaven is that which blows between a horse's ears". Amen to that!

In response to this herpes out break the Ag dept has decided to suspend the 7 day temporary pass for a health certificate indefinitely.  This means any horses coming into the state will be required to have a current health certificate which requires the name of the state you are going to be in.  The biggest issues are protection of everyone's animals, the stables being used, and the arena.  Failure to produce a health certificate can result in a warning or a fine.  The fine can vary and be as large as $5,000 depending upon the infraction.  The state is expecting us as a group to police this for them and if we have someone come to our show without a current coggins and health certificate we are to turn them away.   This is also the policy of the fairgrounds.

Horse Show Volunteers Rock!

On behalf of the show participants and the AEER Club we’d like to give special recognition to the following people and families who put in many hours to help make the August Shows happen.

Shawn, Kathy, and Haley Rampelberg for wearing many hats and doing a variety of jobs too numerous to mention but some of which included, set up and take down of jumps and the dressage arena, show announcing, providing the dressage tests, tabulating test results, hauling the show trailer, and constantly cleaning up horse manure.  Shawn deserves special recognition for keeping Andy the cat safe from getting trampled in the show ring and Kathy for spending her 29th Birthday on Sunday donating her time to AEER.

Sara, Joslin, and Brad Forness.  Sara for always being there to do whatever job needed doing without complaint and to Joslin for helping and being so cute on and off her pony, and to Brad for working behind the scenes and providing muscle with show clean up at the end when we needed him the most.

Shelley Johnsen for being such a gracious hostess and letting AEER use her awesome facility for the show weekend.

Diane Hesse for hosting our wonderful judge Laurie and for doing such a great job scribing all day Sunday.

Annette, Perry, and Annise Montplaisir for helping with jump course set up and take down and for handling ribbons and the gate.

Much thanks to Aileen Horne for helping with registration on Saturday.  Special thanks to Gordy for always being there to help with set up and take down.  Thanks to Dominic for bringing Rachael to share with us her graceful and beautiful riding style and ability.

We would be remiss if we didn’t mention our terrific AEER Board and Committee members who helped plan and make the show happen.  Thanks to Rick Carik for coming to show his support despite the death of a relative.  Thanks to Nikki Dauk Holmes for coordinating the volunteer show vouchers and Tracy Tschakert for designing the jump courses and Haley for getting them ready for the judge.  Thanks to Club Treasurer Andrea Siebel for depositing the show checks and monies and for providing some of the prize items.

Thanks to Terrie Hart Dahl for being part of the planning committee and placing ads in the green section.  Virginia and Megan Stockburger for helping take down the jump course and for setting up the dressage arena and for everything else they did.

Thanks to Becca Baldwin for being a member of the Planning Committee and engaging friends and family to help with  set up and take down and to do other jobs they normally wouldn’t be asked to do.

Thanks to Julie Cardwell for her work as co-chair of the Planning Committee and for being Lori’s sidekick.

And finally special thanks to Lori Krause for being brave enough to take on the job as Show Coordinator.  Lori has brought so much to the table already with her organizational skills and abilities and we appreciate her willingness to put in hours above and beyond the call of duty.

If we’ve missed anyone please accept our apologies. We know there were many of you who stepped up willingly to help with the show.  We know we’ve missed a few people to thank especially those who were there to set up the jump course and the dressage arena.  As usual, many hands make light work!  Thanks again to everyone who helped, and to everyone who participated in the show and of course, to everyone who came out to watch and cheer the riders on.   Stay tuned we’ve got more to come!
